Invasive Alien Species (IAS) and climate change require the development of new capacities to protect the natural capital and manage the rapid transformation of natural resources. The project proposes the development of an integrated and shared approach to studying this issue. The goal will be pursued through technical and technological advances supported by studies to improve information management and the use of IAS as a potential economic resource. The project is being funded by the CNR’s funding measure dedicated to the Institution’s researchers’ projects (called Research Projects@CNR), which was created with the aim of funding the CNR’s scientific community, growing younger researchers professionally and providing more experienced researchers with opportunities that public and private research funding often fails to provide. UseIT is carried out in collaboration with the Institutes IRET CNR and IAS CNR.

The Life DELFI project was born out of growing concern within the international scientific community about the interactions of cetaceans with professional fishing activities. Of particular concern is the frequent finding of signs of interaction with fishing gear on dolphin carcasses found on the beach or at sea. Therefore, DELFI takes care to limit the interaction between dolphins and fishermen as much as possible.
