Luca Bolognini

Researcher

Graduated in Marine Biology and Oceanography at the Polytechnic University of Marche in Ancona in 2008 with the thesis “Spatial distribution and stock assessment of Solea solea (Quensel 1806) in the northern and central Adriatic Sea“, received his Ph.D. in Marine Biology and Ecology in 2016 with the dissertation “Effects of anthropogenic activities on the life cycle and abundance of Penaeus (Melicertus) kerathurus in the Adriatic Sea“. He prepared the thesis at the Institute of Marine Sciences (ISMAR) of the National Research Council (CNR) of Ancona, where he continued to work until today as a Researcher. He has had experience in the fields of fisheries science as a scientific manager in several projects and has participated in various national and international research projects. In particular, in the last 20 years, he has deepened his knowledge on topics related to fisheries science, biology and ecology of target species, impact of artificial structures (e.g. artificial reefs and offshore platforms), marine space planning, GIS mapping, bioeconomic models and invasions of non-indigenous species. He has participated as an expert in various working groups of FAO, GFCM, CIESM and STECF. He is currently involved as a national focal point in the pilot study on recreational fishing and in the Blue Crab program of the General Fisheries Commission in the Mediterranean. He has contributed to several scientific articles both as an author and as an editor and reviewer for several ISI scientific journals.

Research Projects



The research activities of the Institute are carried out in the context of research, development and innovation projects, both national and international, based on regional funding programs (POR FEAMPA - Regional Operational Program of the European Maritime Affairs Fisheries Fund and Aquaculture and POR FESR - Regional Operational Program of the European Regional Development Fund) or ministerial (PRIN - Projects of relevant national interest, PNRA - National Research Program in Antarctica, PO FEAMPA - National Operational Program European Maritime Affairs Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund) , programs for European Territorial Cooperation (Interreg), direct funding programs of the European Commission (Horizon2020 and Horizon Europe, Life, JPI - Joint Programming Initiatives, ERA-NET Cofund) and thematic collaboration initiatives managed by international organizations such as, for example , the FAO - GFCM (General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean). The Institute also develops funded projects in the context of collaborations with private companies in the sectors of the blue economy as well as technology transfer and research results. Research projects, mainly of a collaborative nature, are developed through a wide network of partners that include major Italian and foreign research institutions and universities.
