Circular urban coastal management

Giuseppe Ioppolo

The concept of a circular urban system has become a central theme in the new logics of redesigning cities in the 21st century. The population living in the world’s coastal urban areas continues to grow rapidly. It therefore represents a major priority for urban planning by incorporating the concept of sustainability into new development models. This speech aims to build a relationship between a number of factors (environmental-technological-social-economic) by proposing a SEA-MFA framework that may have the potential to unify and standardize data categorization and quantification processes in order to improve understanding of the metabolic principles of urbanized areas including coastal areas and scale effects.
