Unlocking the Potential of Geospatial Data to manage Italian Small-Scale Fisheries
Pamela Lattanzi is a PhD student in the international program “Innovative Technologies and Sustainable Use of Fishery and Biological Resources of the Mediterranean (FishMed – 38th cycle)” jointly run by CNR IRBIM and the University of Bologna. Pamela investigates the impacts of fishing on the marine environment, providing indicators capable of mapping the distribution and quantifying the pressure exerted by fishing at sea. Her research primarily focuses on innovative methods for carrying out fisheries monitoring. In particular, Pamela is focusing her attention on small-scale fishing (where fishing is done with small vessels, usually under 12 meters in length and without the use of towed gear), which is characterized by a scarcity of quantitative and/or spatio-temporal data.
