Alessandro Mannini

I graduated in Biological Sciences at the University of Genoa where I also obtained a PhD in Environmental and Marine Sciences. I have more than 25 years of experience in the field of fishery resource research, in particular in population dynamics, stock assessment and biology of the main demersal species. For several years I have been the scientific coordinator in the preparation of the Yearbook on the state of the resources exploited in the Italian seas and of the working groups promoted on the methods and acquisition of data within the Data Collection Framework (DCF). I worked for six years at the Joint Research Centre of the European Union providing scientific support to the implementation of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP), in particular in the areas of quantitative data analysis, stock assessment, fisheries management strategy and as head of the Mediterranean and Black Sea Data Call on the data collected under the DCF. I am a member of the Scientific, Technical and Economic Committee for Fisheries (STECF). Since December 2022 I have been working at the CNR IRBIM in Ancona as technical and scientific coordinator of the National Fisheries Data Collection Work Program, with responsibility for the management and implementation of technical and scientific support for the execution of collection activities, and the management and analysis of data in the fisheries sector for the management of fishery resources in the Mediterranean.
