Monitoring and assessing the status of bivalve mollusc resources harvested with hydraulic dredges in Italian waters

Analysis of bivalve molluscs samples collected during annual standardised surveys conducted at sea. In order to evaluate the state of resources in terms of abundance and biomass, samples of bivalve molluscs (both commercial fraction and entire population) will be processed and analyzed using a video-analysis technique. The progression of the biological cycle will also be investigated monthly, depending on the variation of the environmental parameters, by determining the sex and maturity stages on fresh product samples.
