STM IRBIM 2025

Definizione di soglie di qualità per il Good Environmental Status (GES) delle comunità bentoniche

Thanks to the STM grant, Gabriele Di Bona was hosted at the School of Ocean Sciences, Bangor University (Wales, UK), where he developed methodologies to evaluate quality thresholds for trawling impact indicators. During this period, he acquired advanced statistical approaches to assess tipping points and natural variability in time series of ecological indicators describing benthic community diversity. The threshold estimates derived from this work contribute to defining Good Environmental Status (GES) in relation to Descriptor 6 (Seafloor Integrity) of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD) and support the spatial assessment of fishing pressure impacts on marine ecosystems.
