increases the value of observational data gathered by fishing vessels and seeks to establish and improve the best practices for their use. i. The goal of FVON is to promote collaborative observations from fishing vessels, democratize ocean observation, improve ocean forecasts, promote sustainable fishing, and fuel a new data-driven blue economy. FVON is built on the collaboration between researchers and workers in the fishing sector and has been recognized as an example for the
UN Decade network
and the Global Ocean Observing System – GOOS.
