From September 5th to 7th in Ancona, the Sea Festival took place—one of the most heartfelt events that, for three days, reaffirmed the strong bond between the city of Ancona and the Adriatic Sea. The 2025 edition transformed the “from sea to sea” route—from Passetto to the Old Port—into a grand stage for events, with growing attention towards scientific research and sustainability. The celebration culminated on Sunday evening with the traditional and evocative sea procession, a moment of deep devotion that involved civil, military, and religious authorities. The Institute for Biological Resources and Marine Biotechnologies (IRBIM), together with Marche Polytechnic University (UNIVPM), hosted an important Research Stand in Piazza Cavour, coordinated by Luca Bolognini. The initiative focused on the need to make marine science accessible to everyone, from young people to adults. In addition to science, the program offered a rich calendar of events. The public enjoyed concerts by nationally renowned artists, took part in themed guided tours (such as the “from sea to sea at altitude” route), and savored popular street food based on fresh local catch, managed by the same operators who carried out the extraordinary landing permitted despite the fishing ban. The 2025 edition of the Sea Festival confirmed its role as an identity-defining event, successfully blending maritime tradition, popular entertainment, and a commitment to environmental sustainability.
