The Fishing Vessel Ocean Observing Network (FVON) increases the value of fishing vessel observation data and seeks to establish best practices and make them more effective. The ultimate goal of FVON is to promote collaborative observations from fishing vessels, democratize ocean observation, improve ocean forecasting, promote sustainable fisheries, and fuel the new data-fueled blue economy. FNOV is based on collaboration between researchers and workers in the fisheries sector and has been recognized as an emerging project for the UN Decade Network for the Global Ocean Observing System – GOOS.
