As part of the Interreg Italy-Croatia ADRIREEF project, the CNR-IRBIM of Ancona has installed an oceanographic buoy that transmits oceanographic and atmospheric data in real time. The oceanographic buoy was immersed in the stretch of sea between Porto Recanati and Porto Potenza Picena to study and enhance the artificial barrier, still little known, which was built in 2001 by the Marche Region with the aim of fish repopulation and protection of the coastal strip from illegal trawling activities. Equipped with a weather station, it is able to detect wind speed and direction, air temperature and atmospheric pressure. Sensors placed in the submerged part of the buoy measure water temperature, about 10 feet from the surface, salinity, dissolved oxygen, and turbidity. It also records, in addition, intensity and direction of currents along the water column. The buoy is equipped with solar panels that ensure the functioning of the equipment and a ground transmission system in real time of the detected data.<\/p>\n
The observational site is not active.
