The progressive replacement of fishmeal and fish oil with <strong>alternative protein sources <\/strong>can induce <strong>nutritional imbalances <\/strong>that negatively affect growth performance, feed efficiency, and fish health, particularly in <strong>carnivorous species <\/strong>such as gilthead seabream and European seabass. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-in-scc-markdown-text ___1ngh792 ftgm304 f1iaxwol\">At the same time, <strong>reducing antibiotic <\/strong>requiring <strong>alternative strategies <\/strong>to maintain fish health and welfare.These challenges are common to aquaculture industries in both <strong>Tunisia <\/strong>and <strong>Italy<\/strong>, making <strong>collaborative research <\/strong>highly relevant. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-in-scc-markdown-text ___1ngh792 ftgm304 f1iaxwol\"><strong>Functional feed additives<\/strong>, including <strong>probiotics, prebiotics, and synbiotics<\/strong>, have demonstrated potential to improve nutrient utilization, modulate gut microbiota, enhance <strong>immune responses<\/strong>, and support overall fish performance. However, their effects are highly variable depending on <strong>species<\/strong>, <strong>dosage<\/strong>, and <strong>formulation<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-in-scc-markdown-text ___1ngh792 ftgm304 f1iaxwol\">his project aims to develop and evaluate <strong>innovative functional feeds <\/strong>enriched with selected <strong>marine-derived probiotics and synbiotics<\/strong>. Using an integrated approach combining <strong>feed formulation<\/strong>, <strong>controlled feeding trials<\/strong>, <strong>histopathological and immunohistochemical analyses<\/strong>, and <strong>gene expression profiling<\/strong>, the study will investigate the effects of these diets on <strong>growth<\/strong>, <strong>health<\/strong>, and <strong>physiological performance <\/strong>of <em>S. aurata <\/em>and <em>D. labrax<\/em>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-in-scc-markdown-text ___1ngh792 ftgm304 f1iaxwol\">The expected outcomes include <strong>improved fish productivity<\/strong>, <strong>enhanced disease resistance<\/strong>, <strong>reduced reliance on antibiotics<\/strong>, and <strong>more sustainable aquaculture systems<\/strong>.
