The clam (Chamelea gallina L., 1758) is a widespread species throughout the Mediterranean. In Italy it is particularly abundant along the coasts of the central-northern Adriatic and is one of the most important commercial molluscs. This research project is aimed at supporting the Regional Administration (Marche Region) in the management of this fishing activity. Surveys of the clam resource will be conducted in order to assess the state of the same, in addition a data collection system will be developed on commercial landings and fishing effort. The information collected during the sampling, combined with the fishing effort and position data of the vessels, will allow to formulate opinions on the management of bivalve molluscs based on scientific evidence.<\/p>\n
he objective is to provide the technical-scientific support necessary for the fulfillment of the provisions of article 1 of the Regional Law n. 20 of 28 June 2017. The main objective of the current project proposal is to provide the Regional Administration and operators in the sector with scientific information for a rational management of clam fishing with hydraulic dredges. To this end, annual monitoring of the resource will be carried out.Moreover, having access to the information in the possession of the individual Consortia relating to the movements of the vessels and the daily quantities for each vessel, the proposal aims to study the ways in which the fishing effort to be implemented is implemented. part of the Marche fleet. These estimates will make it possible to define guidelines regarding the targeted management of the clam resource as an aid to the work carried out by the Marche consortia.
